Kassandra is the westernmost foot closest to Thessaloniki.
It is the most popular and most populated for the 3 peninsulas (Sithonia and Mount Athos are the other 2 peninsulas)
 
Taking the road from Thessaloniki to Kassandra the most important area is Nea Moudania (60km from Thessaloniki). It is Halkidiki's largest city and commercial centre.

KASSANDRA is full of tourism and in the summer  months holds the "Sardine Festival", and the "Festival of the Sea" which attracts every year plenty of visitors. 
Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia are small villages which offer a great variety of hotels and apartments surrounded by clean blue beaches.
 
The next resort, Nea Potidea (66 km from Thessaloniki), is famous for its canal that once separated Kassandra from mainland Halkidiki. Continuing south, the next east coast resort is Afytos, perhaps the most beautiful village in Halkidiki with its characteristic location, with endless sea-view to Toronaios Gulf. Managing to maintain the traditional architecture, houses made of stone and tile roads, the village has expanded into quite a busy tourist resort.
 
The unforgettable white beaches and rocky terrain is what attracted both Greek and Foreign visitors to Kassandra.
The town boats 3.500 inhabitants but during the summer season can go up to 25.000 inhabitants.It is the oldest of the  municipalities of Halkidiki's. Since the 16th century it appears as a settlement, while its name originates from King Kassandros of Macedonia.
 

In Kassandra you will find a range or low budget to higher classified hotel to satisfy every budget. You will find an abundance of Greek taverns, bars and nightlife. A large entertainment venue including water sports.You can find both plenty to see and do as well as plenty of places to just relax and enjoy nature. Some of the most beautiful beaches, as those of Ai - Nikolaos, Siveris, Stefani or Kypsa
 
Kassandra is the most domesticated of the 3 peninsulas. You will find hills with lush vegetation and plains that are cultivated by the local farmers.
 
The existence of  11 public services and organizations, such as Organization for Telecommunication, Post - Office, Health Centre ready to render first-aid services, the alternative between many bank branches, Police that co-ordinates public security and order in the whole Peninsula, and the rest public and private services all prepared to confront any arising problem and give solutions.
