:: Location
Limni Keriou (Keriou Lake), along with the beach and the port of Keriou, are located 15 kilometers from the city of Zakynthos on a verdant mountain bank.

The area is called Limni Keriou (Keriou Lake) because of the lake that was there and which has now been drained.

In the gulf of Keriou there is the beach and the island and today besides the fishing boats of the area and the little boats that carry out excursions, the little port is considered ideal for welcoming vessels as well.

The beach of Keriou, with its sand and pebbles is an ideal spot for swimming.

On the road leading to the beach there are also diving schools, a very interesting hobby for many visitors to the area. This is where the little boats start off from on the small, enjoyable cruises towards Marathonisso and the Blue caves.

Visitors can get fuel for their boat or car here, and there are also mini markets which cover one's needs but which also offer traditional products.

The bus stop is in front of the hotel so that you can visit the villages of Zakynthos that are nearby or further away.

The mountains surrounding the lake are green and full of pine trees, holm oaks and amazing paths, ideal for those who wish to take nature walks. The scenery has an interchange of hills with small fields.

Located at a distance of 5 kilometers is the island of Keri, with its stone houses and narrow streets. There are old homes, which can be described as significant samples of local architecture, and whose yards are full of sage, oregano, lavender, basil and bougainvilleas.

Across the way from the shore, the island of Marathonissi dominates and it imposingly adorns the gulf of Lagana. It has a perimeter of approximately one kilometer.

The nature found there is exotic, the beach is exceptionally clean and the water is limpid. Besides the two beaches, one with pebbles and the other with sand, one can find rich vegetation.

On the golden, sandy beach that extends like a tongue into the sea, the Caretta-Caretta sea turtles make their nests. National Sea Park guards live there permanently and protect the island, the turtle and its eggs.

On the steep coast with the pebbles, there are two small sea caves, which can be entered with a small boat.

Passing through the village we reach the lighthouse (Faros), which is located on the edge of the steep cliff approximately 200 meters deep, and this lighthouse has for years helped ships navigate the area.

The view is amazing. Steep, imposing coasts and endless blue. A wild, imposing beauty. The mountainous landscape is cut into sheer peaks and steep coasts in the endless Ionian Sea. This is also the main characteristic of the western side of the island. Wherever you stop to look around, the forbidding rocks join the sea from within the glorification of unbelievable vegetation.

Here is where one can admire one of the most magical sunsets in Greece.

The people of Keriou are friendly, courteous and hospitable, known for their talkativeness as well as their habit of accompanying their words with hand gestures. The local dialect is reminds one of singing many of the words used have Italian roots.

Despite the development of tourism that is mainly located in the area of Limni, the people of Keriou work in the field of Agriculture. They mainly cultivate olives and vineyards. They produce oil and wine of excellent quality. On a smaller scale the inhabitants occupy themselves with fishing and the cultivation of garden produce. A favorite occupation is beekeeping; the honey is then used to make the traditional pasteli (a sweet made with honey and sesame seeds). The island's housewives knead and bake their bread in ovens that they have built themselves.

Keri is truly unique, ideally combining natural beauty with human, friendly hospitality, mountains with the sea, the wild beauty with adventure, serenity with absolute fun.

Just a visit to Keri is an unparalleled experience that will certainly not leave anyone unmoved.
