Alia Club hotel is named after the goddess Alia, wife of the mythological god of sea Poseidon. When building it mosaics of priceless archaeological value where found from the Roman era which are estimated to be about 2000 years old and are now in display in the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion. It is worth to mention that around that time the subsoil of the area where the hotel is build was used in pottery making, which one can also admire in the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion.
