Ammos hotel is perfectly located on a white sandy beach, known as Glaros beach, at one of the most beautiful bays in Chania, the bay of Agii Apostoli (Saint Apostles). Called after the small picturesque church upon the hill, Agii Apostoli is a place waiting to be discovered by you. Walk past the row of small coves, choose between tranquillity and the excitement of a nearby beach bar, play volleyball or jog around the paths of the protected pine grove (5 minutes walk from ammos).

Ammos(which means sand in Greek) is proud of its location, right on the beach, far away from the noisy main road and yet only 4 Km from the Venetian harbour and the city of Chania, 1 Km from the cute little village of Galatas and 4 Km from the village of Platanias (the centre of night life). Ammos hotel is by all means the ideal base for your excursions. That is off course if you ever get tired of having the sparkling water at your feet.

Each room features top quality and individually designed furniture made both by local and international craftsmen, a fully equipped kitchenette, air-conditioning, individually designed bathroom en suite, direct telephone system, high speed internet, safety box, satellite TV and, above all, a balcony/veranda with dazzling views to the Cretan sea.

Experience the sound of the waves when you wake up in the morning, the refreshing feeling of diving into the pool or even better the sea, taste the “dolmades”, the “kalitsounia”, the “marathopites” and all the other delicacies of the world famous Cretan cuisine in an idyllic setting by the water, enjoy the impeccable and friendly service.

Walk over our stone made mosaic surrounding the pool, a very old and rare to find technique, enjoy the beautiful sunset viewed from your balcony and indulge in our vast palette of vivid colours, from light green to the turquoise of the sea water and from beige to the bright fuchsia of bougainvillea. This is your private escape...

The hotel is recommended by a variety of Greek magazines and some of the most prestigious travel books and credible internet sites like ALPHA GUIDE, ALPHA GUIDE CRETE, GOLDEN LIST OF THE BEST HOTELS OF GREECE, 'EY' MAGAZINE, MAISON & DECORATION MAGAZINE etc. as one of the top small hotels of Greece.

History and culture

When you arrive in Chania the first thing that attracts your attention is the unique Venetian harbour, the centre of life for more than 3000 years. Built upon the ruins of ancient Kydonia, the city throughout its long history has came across the Minoans, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Venetians, the Arabs and the Turks. All of them have left their distinguishing marks and have made Chania probably the most intriguing and culturally rich city in Crete.

Discover the Turkish and the Jewish neighbourhoods and finally drink a raki, our famous local drink...

Wander around the old city’s cobbled-stone roads, visit the Naval and the Archaeological museums, both small but incredibly beautiful, discover the street with the old knives (a tradition that goes back centuries) , buy rare herbs, thyme honey and virgin olive oil from the municipal closed market (a magnificent 19th century construction built on the ruins of the Venetian fortress), discover the Turkish and the Jewish neighbourhoods and finally drink a raki, our famous local drink, together with old Cretans at some “kafenio”.
