Agistri Island is situated in the Saronic Gulf some 30km from Piraeus and just 4 km from the island of Aegina. The population of Agistri is just over one thousand although this doubles in the most popular tourist months of July and August. There are four villages on the island - Skala, Milos, Metochi and Limenaria.

Transportation to Agistri
Transportation to and from the island is consistent, with Ferry Boats and Cruisers leaving from Perama port (Piraeus) to Paloukia port (Salamis) and vice versa every 15'. Also small cruisers leave from Piraeus main port to Salamis Island every 30'.Restaurants, Ouzeri, Taverna, Cafeteria and bars are located everywhere on Salamis and play a basic role for the entertainment of the island and the visitors.

Sports
The most poular sports on Agistri are swimming, snorkelling, fishing, water-skiing, windsurfing, volleyball and cycling. For those who prefer less energetic activities, it is possible to play darts, pool, chess or backgammon in many of the cafes on the island.

Walks
Agistri is perfect for those who like walking. A walk from Skala around the island to Limenaria and the deserted beach of Aponissos makes a wonderful day out and there are also beautiful tracks to follow in the pine forested interior of the island with some stunning views.

Beaches
The main beach at Skala is sandy and has shallow crystal clear waters which makes it idesl for those with young children. There is also a nudist beach just beyond the Agistri Club  which became famous in the 1980s as the venue for the Adam and Eve Conference. For the more adventurous, there are numerous small beaches and deserted coves around the island. Dragonera beach (on the coastal road to Limenaria) is popular with campers.

Excursions
The nearby island of Aegina (20 minutes) has a number of places of interest including the Temple of Aphaia, and the picturesque harbours of Souvala and Perdika. The main town is also popular with tourists and the fish market and floating vegetable amarket are also well worth seeing. Agistri is also well placed for short visits to other Saronic Islands such as Poros and Hydra. It is also possible to make one day excursions to the Acropolis in Athens or to the Ancient theatre of Epidavros. A sunset cruise around Agistri island is a perfect way to finish off the day.

Churches
Some visitors like to visit the old churches scattered around Agistri to see the frescoes and icons they contain. These include the cathedral in Milos, All Saints Church (just outside Milos), the "Source of Life" church, St Anargi in Skala, St Kyriaki.
