This central neighbourhood is made up mainly of residential apartment blocks, and sprawls from the south side of Vassilissis Sofias Avenue and encompasses the University of Athens. 

The large park next to the university is pleasant for a stroll.  Along Vassislissis Sofias Avenue you will find the Megaro Mousikis, the concert hall of Athens, featuring top international and local symphonic orchestras and soloists. 

There are various events throughout the year, and you may buy tickets from the ticket office there, by getting off at the metro station of the same name. In this area, you will also find the embassies of the US, the UK and many others. Further along the road is the National Gallery, the War Museum and the Byzantine & Christian Museum.
